Description
Businessman and humanitarian Jacob Loose and his philanthropist wife Ella were frequent travelers.  The collection is comprised of images from their early 20th century trips around the world, featuring views of locales as varied as Africa, Ceylon, India, Palestine, and numerous western European countries.

Central police station and police court in Singapore

The central police station and police court in Singapore, Singapore, is a large, European-style, Victorian building standing beside the busy, wide, unpaved street. Many carriages, rickshaws, and carts move along the street as well as people walking; some using umbrellas; some using neck yokes with hanging baskets on either side of the person. Large trees stand in the yard of the police court. People rest under the trees. Oxen pull one heavily loaded cart in the center of the photograph. Printed in white ink script on the bottom left-hand corner of the photograph, "Central Police St. & Police Court. 64." Also embossed on the bottom left-hand corner, "GR Lambert & Co. Singapore."

House of Marco Lucretius

The ruins of the house of Marco Lucrezio in Pompeii, Italy, reveals statuary and busts positioned on top of tall, narrow columns. Temples of Venus and of Diana in Baia

The ruins of the temples of Venus and of Diana in Baia sit in a valley on the edge of a lake. Recesses built into the side of a mountain still exist. Busy docks

The docks at the fish market in Bergen, Norway, are very busy with many people walking and standing along the docks of paving stones. Many, many sail ships are out in the quay. A couple of stands are in the lower right-hand corner of the photograph. Printed along the bottom in three different sections in white ink, "Axel Lindahl," "Rich. Busy harbor city

A photograph of the fish market in Bergen, Norway, back toward the harbor village. The city buildings line the wide dock and a few buildings stand up the sides of the mountain in the back of the photograph. Many, many people stand along the docks shopping at the stands or standing along the waterside looking down at the boats and ships docked there. A pier heads its way out to the water from the center of the photograph and to the left. The boats at the bottom of the photograph are overflowing with fish. Fantoft Stave Church

The Fantoft Stave Church in the Fanta borough of the city of Bergen, Norway, stands amid the low mountains and is surrounded by forests. It has a fence surrounding it that is mostly wood on a rock wall. A portion of the fence is a stone wall that turns around a hill with a cross perched on top of it. The get of the fence has a small roof over the gate. Printed in white ink along the bottom of the photograph, "8075. Fortun Kirke Paa Fantoft Ved Bergen. K. Knudsen, Bergen."
