An unidentified African American girl stands to the left of a quarter horse with no saddle or bridal with her hand on the underside of the horse's neck. Part of the horse's mane has blown in front of her eyes. They stand outside a clapboard building that is mostly out of the photograph. She wears a dress with a full skirt.
