A studio head shot portrait of an unidentified African American girl wearing a high collar pinned under her throat, a dress with an light-colored inset bodice and a dark ruffle over her chest that matches the rest of the blouse. Embossed on the paperboard frame below the photograph, "M. L. Dean, Main St., Mt. Airy, N.C."
